Search and Rescue Cruiser Hermann Marwede

The largest German rescue cruiser is 46 metres long, has almost 10,000 hp and a speed of 25 knots. It has particularly extensive equipment and facilities for maritime search and rescue (SAR) and an impressive fire-fighting capacity.

The rescue cruisers of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) are among the most efficient SAR units, even by international standards. They are stationed at important points along the German North Sea and Baltic coasts.
